100-Loss Tournament: 2012 Astros at 1962 Mets

Editor’s note: The 100-Loss Tournament games are being played with Strat-o-Matic cards and dice.

a three-man pitching rotation using the best lineups available.

Al Jackson tossed a complete game as he led the 1962 New York Mets to a 6-2 win over the 2012 Houston Astros in the second round of the 100-Loss Tournament.

Jackson allowed six hits with four walks as he fanned eight to send the Mets to the semifinals.

New York’s offense got going in the bottom of the third against Astros starter Bud Norris. Back-to-back doubles by Elio Chacon and Choo-Choo Coleman produced the first tally before Felix Mantilla drilled a two-run homer to give the Mets a 3-0 advantage.

Both teams added a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Justin Maxwell had a two-run homer for the Astros, while Coleman knocked in two for the Mets with a single to end the day for Norris.

Norris was tagged with the loss as he surrendered eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

The final run for the Mets came in the seventh against Wilton Lopez as the Astros helped the cause with two errors. Wesley Wright tossed a scoreless eighth for Houston.
