Editor’s note: The 1948 Tournament games are being played with Strat-o-Matic cards and dice. Injuries will only be used during the game when they occur. For this tournament, the rules include a three-man pitching rotation using the best lineups available. The first and second round series will be the best two of three games. The semifinals are best of five, while the championship series is the best of seven.

The Cleveland Indians won their second World Series title in 1948. Will they be able to get the job done in this tournament?

Lou Boudreau was the top performer in the American League earning the Most Valuable Player Award by leading the Indians to the title, while also being as the club’s manager. The Indians survived a one-game playoff against the Boston Red Sox to claim the pennant.

The Boston Braves reached the World Series for the first time since their championship season in 1914.

Stan Musial was the MVP in the NL as the St. Louis Cardinals finished second in the race for the flag.

The brackets are seeded by league standings with the first round featuring AL and NL match-ups. The highest seed has home field advantage.
