Mike Marshall tossed a three-hitter as the 1974 Los Angeles Dodgers blanked the 1973 New York Mets 1-0 in the second of the 1970s Cy Young Tournament.

With the victory, the Dodgers will entertain the 1976 San Diego Padres in a semifinal contest.

Marshall (2-0) allowed a single to Wayne Garrett leading of the affair and them gave up singles to Jerry Grote in the third and Felix Millan in the seventh. He walked one and fanned five.

The Dodgers scored the games only run in the top of the third.

Steve Yeager and Bill Russell began the rally against New York starter Tom Seaver with back-to-back singles.

Seaver walked Davey Lopes to load the bases, which led to a sacrifice fly by Bill Buckner and the Dodgers had the advantage.

In the ninth, the Dodgers threatened to add to their lead as Seaver was sent to the showers after giving up single to Ron Cey and Joe Ferguson.

Tug McGraw shut the door on the Dodgers as he got three straight outs to give the Mets and chance to comeback.

Marshall was up to the task with a perfect ninth to punch his team’s ticket to the semifinals.

Seaver (1-1) surrendered seven hits in the contest, while walking three with nine strikeouts.
