The 1976 San Diego Padres will play for the championship of the 1970s Cy Young Tournament.

With a 3-0 victory over the 1974 Los Angeles Dodgers, the Padres will entertain the 1971 Chicago Cubs in the finale thanks to pitcher Randy Jones.

Jones (3-0) has posted three straight complete game shutouts as the Padres advanced through the tourney. In 27 innings, Jones has allowed 14 hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Against the Dodgers, Jones gave up four hits with a walk and a strikeout.

The Padres picked up an unearned run in the fourth off Dodgers starter Mike Marshall.

Mike Ivie singled and was forced out on a grounder by Jerry Turner. Turner moved to third on a single by Doug Rader.

Fred Kendall hit a grounder that Dodgers third baseman Ron Cey muffed as Turner raced home to give the Padres a 1-0 lead.

Turner’s two-run single in the fifth produced the final runs of the contest.

Marshall (2-1) went the distance for the Dodgers surrendering 10 hits with a pair of walks, while fanning six.
