1994 Post-Season: Braves at Expos G4

Editor’s note: The 1994 playoff games are being played with Strat-o-Matic cards and dice. The designated hitter will be used for the American League contests as well as when those teams are at home during the World Series. Injuries will only be used during the game when they occur. For this tournament, the rules include a three-man pitching rotation using the best lineups available.

The best-of-five National League Division Series between the Atlanta Braves and Montreal Expos is now even with only the decisive fifth game remaining.

David Justice led the Atlanta offense as Greg Maddux tossed a five-hitter to spark a 5-2 victory by the Braves.

Justice gave the Braves a 2-0 lead in the top of the first against Montreal starter Ken Hill with a two-run double.

After a RBI triple by Ryan Klesko, Justice added another run with his second double of the affair and it was 4-0.

Sean Berry‘s RBI single in the fifth off Maddux produce the first run for the Expos.

Mel Rojas replaced Hill (1-1), who gave up four runs on five hits with three strikeouts in five innings.

In the seventh, Rojas surrendered a solo homer to Javy Lopez. Kirk Rueter and Jeff Shaw each had a scoreless inning for the Braves to keep the game close.

Maddux (1-1) got into some trouble in the ninth as Cliff Floyd singled and would later score on an error by Lopez on a ball hit in front of the plate by Darrin Fletcher.

In the final game in Olympic Stadium, the Braves will send Tom Glavine (1-0) to the mound as Montreal will count on Pedro Martinez (0-1) to send the Expos to the championship series.
