The Toronto Blue Jays had just enough to get the job done in a 5-2 victory over the Oakland A’s in the second round of the 2006 Tournament.

Toronto moves on to the semifinals of the American League portion of the tournament as the Blue Jays are set to travel to California to visit the Los Angeles Angels.

A run by Toronto in the sixth put the Blue Jays in front as Reed Johnson raced home when Vernon Wells grounded into a double play.

Oakland starter Barry Zito surrendered three runs in the seventh inning as his day came to an end as the Blue Jays built a 4-0 lead.

Bengie Molina and John McDonald both had RBI singles to oust the A’s lefty.

Aaron Hill capped Toronto’s rally with a run-scoring double off Joe Kennedy.

Oakland found some offense against Toronto starter A.J. Burnett in the seventh.

Eric Chavez and Milton Bradley had back-to-back RBI doubles to cut the A’s deficit in half at 4-2.

Frank Catalanotto‘s double in the top of the eighth provided the Blue Jays with their final run of the affair.

Burnett worked seven innings with six strikeouts to get the win for the Blue Jays, while Brandon League added a scoreless eighth.

B.J. Ryan worked a perfect ninth to pick up a save.
