A late rally gave the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the opening round of the 2006 Tournament.
With the victory, the Brewers are set to visit the St. Louis Cardinals for a contest in the second round.
Gabe Gross drove in all four runs for the Brewers as he collected three of Milwaukee’s 10 hits.
The Brewers failed to score in the top of the first against Philadelphia starter Brett Myers.
Rickie Weeks had the first of his four hits and Gross followed with a single.
After Bill Hall walked to load the bases, Myers fanned Prince Fielder and Geoff Jenkins before retiring David Bell on a lineout to third.
Jimmy Rollins led off the bottom of the first with a homer against Milwaukee starter Ben Sheets.
The Phillies added two more runs in the second. The first came on an error, while Chase Utley had a RBI single that gave Philadelphia a 3-0 advantage.
Weeks began the third for the Brewers with a double before Gross smacked a two-run homer to cut Milwaukee’s deficit to 3-2.
In the seventh, Brady Clark coaxed a walk from Myers before the Philadephia hurler struck out Damian Miller and Sheets.
Weeks doubled as Clark moved to third and then Gross gave the Brewers the lead for good with a two-run single.
