A power surge by the Atlanta Braves led to a 6-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs during the National League portion of the second round of the 2006 Tournament.
With the win, the Braves advance to the semifinals to face the winner of the Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals.
Adam LaRoche blasted a pair of homers, while Edgar Renteria and Marcus Giles added solo shots in the victory.
Renteria got things started in the bottom of the first off Cubs starter Sean Marshall with a two-run bomb.
In the third, it was Giles that gave the Braves a 3-0 advantage. LaRoche drilled his solo long balls in the fourth and sixth.
Chipper Jones knocked in the last run of the affair with a single in the seventh.
Tim Hudson earned the win for the Braves as he went the distance allowing seven hits with five strikeouts.
Renteria topped Atlanta with three hits. For the Cubs, Juan Pierre had a pair of singles and stole two bases.
