CONNERSVILLE, Ind. – The Richmond boys cross country team won the Connersville Sectional on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Richmond’s Alex Orihuela won the individual title for the boys with a time of 16:42.6, while teammate Greyson Farmer finished second with a 17:03.1.
Along with Richmond, Northeastern and Hagerstown advanced to next Saturday’s Shelbyville Regional. The top five teams move on as Northeastern was third and Hagerstown fourth.
Among the top 15 individual boys on non-qualifying squads were Kyle Sheard (Centerville), Brody Puckett (Lincoln) and Levi Morgan (Centerville).
On the girls side, East Central grabbed the team trophy with Richmond finishing third and Centerville fourth. Centerville’s Kendra Shipman led the runners from Wayne County with a 21:05.2, which put her in eighth.
The individuals set to compete in the regional are Gwynie Falcone (Seton), Heather Crull (Northeastern), Sara Swinney (Seton), Avery Blunk (Hagerstown), Madelyn Green (Northeastern) and Logan Klein (Hagerstown).
