LEWISVILLE, Ind. – Tri Head Boys Basketball Coach Cary Ellis is optimistic his program is growing.
“We had a lot of kids graduate, but we feel like we have a good nucleus back,” Ellis said. “We feel like we’re going to be more athletic and be able to compete in every ball game.”
Junior Carson Cox, who was an All-Tri-Eastern Conference Honorable Mention selection last year, returns after scoring 8.7 points per game, while averaging 6.3 rebounds per contest.
Ellis likes his team’s unselfish and positive attitude.
“They just want to compete and get better,” Ellis said. “We had a real good scrimmage at Oldenburg. In the last quarter, they hit a 3-pointer to tie us. We’re the smallest school in our conference and we’re kind of embracing that.”
Kaleb Harrison is the lone senior for the Titans. The juniors joining Cox on the roster are Eric Bilby, David O’Neill, Deven Jones and Austin Stroud.
Seth Butler, Alex Melton, Nick Wilson and Masen Phelps are the sophomores. Gage Rowe, Kyler Burchett, Zach Smith and Elijah Davis are the freshmen.
The Titans begin the season on the road against Knightstown on Wednesday, Nov. 25. That game is followed by two more trips to Wapahani and Blue River.
“We’ve got to be ready to play,” Ellis said.
