HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – The Hagerstown girls basketball team dropped a tight battle Saturday as the Tigers fell 39-34 to Randolph Southern.
“They’re always physical and we knew tonight was not going to be an easy win,” Randolph Southern coach Jerimy Stephan said. “We had to withstand the storm.”
“I felt like we just kept fighting, Stephan added. “If you don’t continue fighting for 32 minutes, you’re not going to win many games.”
A 3-pointer by Kennedy Kramer with 29 seconds left proved to be the decisive score.
“That’s what Kennedy is supposed to do,” Stephan said of Kramer’s only basket of the night. “That was it. We found a way to win.”
Cameron Whitesel helped the Rebels with 21 points and 11 rebounds with 13-of-15 from the free throw line.
Overall, the Rebels converted 16-of-19 chances from the line.
“That won us the game,” Stephan said.
On the other side, Hagerstown coach Chris Oliger was pleased with his team’s effort as they continue to grow.
“We battled and we handled their pressure,” Oliger said. “We just made a few errors in the fourth quarter that we won’t make in two weeks. We’re getting better.”
Brytni Dale led the Tigers with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Madison Brown tossed in 10 points.
The Rebels won the JV contest 19-17 with 12 points from Maddy Mikesell. Hagerstown was led by Whitlee Garrison with eight points.
Hagerstown (1-4) entertains Winchester in a Tri-Eastern Confernce contest on Wednesday. Randolph Southern (4-0) faces Centerville at home on Monday, Nov. 28.
