WINCHESTER, Ind. – Winchester Head Baseball Coach Chris Martin is hoping his team can make strides this season that lead to positive outcomes for the Golden Falcons as he begins his first year at the helm.

Winchester was 7-13 last spring with a 2-5 mark in the Tri-Eastern Conference.

“I expect us to compete every time we step on the field,” Martin said. “I feel we should be in the mix for the county, conference and sectional this year.”

“Joe Webb, Cullen Hall, Dalton Hensley, Michael Georgi and Jacob Lahey are my top players returning,” Martin said. “I expect solid play and leadership from them this year.”

Hall was an All-TEC performer last season as a junior. Webb, Hensley and Dalton Smiley are also seniors.

Georgi, Camden Lahey, Landon Lahey, Drake Moody and Aaron Wallace are juniors on the roster.

Jacob Lahey and Jordan Key are sophomores, Glenallen Anderson is a freshman on the varsity.

“We have a solid group of freshman and sophomores that will push our older kids to make them better,” Martin said.

Winchester starts the season at South Adams on Tuesday, April 5. The Golden Falcons entertain Union County in a doubleheader, which is their TEC opener on Saturday, April 9.

“The TEC should be very strong and competitive from top to bottom this year,” Martin said.
