Baylor and MSU Highlight Action on Sept. 4

baylorA pair of ranked squads highlight the second day of the opening weekend of the FBS college football season on Friday, Sept. 4.

Baylor is the fourth ranked squad in the AP pre-season poll, while Michigan State is in the fifth spot.

The Bears (11-2) begin the fall at Southern Methodist (1-11).

“We’re excited,” Baylor Head Coach Art Briles said during his weekly press conference. “We have a really good football team. That’s the thing that’s got me excited.”

“I’m anxious to let these guys on the field and let them do what they do, and that’s play football,” Briles continued. “There’s been a lot of hype, a lot of anticipation for our team this season and rightfully so.”

“We’re not really sure what SMU is going to do,” Briles added. “We’re going to have to do a feeling out process early in the game. We know it’s going to be a lively atmosphere. I’m expecting a full house.”

michiganstateThe Spartans (11-2) face state rival Western Michigan (8-5) on the road.

No. 23 Boise State (12-2) entertains Washington State (3-9) in the other contest involving a ranked team.

Other games: Charlotte at Georgia State, Fordham at Army, Rhode Island at Syracuse, Weber State at Oregon State and Kent State at Illinois.
