BUFFALO – The Green Bay Packers were not bothered by the cold temperatures or the snow in Buffalo’s War Memorial Stadium.
After scoring all of their points in the first half, the Packers had all they needed to post a 24-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the 1965 American Football League-National Football League Championship game.
The Packers scored on three of their first four possessions to begin the game as they took control of the affair.
Paul Hornung capped the opening drive with a 9-yard touchdown run, which would be his first of three scores on the day.
Buffalo answered to tie the contest after a Green Bay turnover as Jack Kemp hit Elbert Dubenion with an 18-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-7.
However, Green Bay added 10 points before the end of the first quarter. Don Chandler booted a 33-yard field goal and Hornung had a 10-yard run.
Hornung’s 4-yard run in the second period gave the Packers a 24-7 margin by halftime.
The Bills picked up the final tally of the contest as Kemp completed a 12-yard pass to Glenn Bass for a score in the third period.
