CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Centerville Head Boys Golf Coach Roger Martin welcomes back one of the top players in the Tri-Eastern Conference as the Bulldogs look for a third straight crown.

“I expect our team to compete for the top of the TEC again this year,” Martin said. “It will not be easy because there is some really good talent in the conference again this year.”

Junior Mason Rader headlines the group of returners that includes junior Skyler Benedict, junior Aydan Koyles and sophomore Josh Duke. Rader has been a medalist in the TEC Tournament and the sectional.

“We have some holes to fill from last year’s team and we need to develop the depth we had for the past two years,” Martin said. “Mason Rader will be our leader again this year. He has some personal goals that I think are very attainable and I expect him to be a force every night out.”

“Josh Duke, Skyler Benedict, and Aydan Koyles were all about equal last year and switched spots at different times,” Martin continued. “They will be relied upon to build that depth that we’ll need to be a really good team.”

Juniors Bryce Lingg and Myles Fry along with freshmen Aaron Glover and Sam Roberts will compete for the final spot in the lineup.

“It is too early to tell how that competition will turn out,” Martin said.

The Bulldogs start the season at home against TEC foe Union County on Wednesday, April 13.

“I would expect Hagerstown and Union County to once again be fighting for the title,” Martin said. “I would also expect to compete for one of the top three sectional spots as a team. We were able to accomplish that goal two years ago, but fell short last year. I think we have learned from that.”

“This group of kids have not lost a regular season conference match in the last two years, but it will be very difficult to continue that streak,” Martin added. “Several teams are stronger this year and a couple that lacked depth may be able to add a player or two and jump right in the mix to compete for the conference.”
