MILTON, Ind. – The Centerville baseball team stayed in the hunt for the Tri-Eastern Conference title on Friday as the Bulldogs defeated Lincoln 3-1.
Nolan Witte led the way on the mound for the Bulldogs as he went six innings and gave up three hits with six strikeouts to earn the victory.
Centerville is now 7-7 overall and 4-1 in the TEC, while Lincoln is Lincoln 7-6, 2-3.
Matt Stamper picked up a save as he worked the seventh inning for the Bulldogs.
Stamper got Centerville’s offense started in the fourth with a double and he later scored on a dropped third strike. He led the Bulldogs with two hits on the day.
A sacrifice fly in the fifth by Logan Moistner gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage. Justyn North’s RBI single in the sixth made it 3-0.
Kyler Baker knocked in Lincoln’s run in the seventh with a double.
Lucian Cornett started for the Golden Eagles and left the mound with one out in the sixth. He fanned four.
Holden Russell led Lincoln with two hits.
Both teams return to action on Monday as Centerville entertains Oldenburg, while Lincoln gets a visit from Richmond.
