CENTERVILLE, Ind. – The Centerville football team won its second straight contest on Friday as the Bulldogs defeated Shenandoah 41-27.

The Bulldogs rushed for 286 yards as a team and had four touchdowns on the ground with one each by Reese VanDevender, Chris Pritchett, Kody Witham and Dylan Benedict.

VanDevender led the way with 146 yards, while Pritchett added 81. Witham finished with 65.

Dante Torres booted five PATs.

Defensively, Cole Cooper led the Bulldogs with 11 tackles and Nico Wankerl added 10 stops as Witham contributed nine.

In the opening period, Witham gave the Bulldogs the lead with a 3-yard run before the Raiders tied it by the end of the frame 7-7.

Shenandoah grabbed a 13-7 advantage before the Bulldogs took a 21-13 lead by halftime. Peyton VanWinkle had an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown and Pritchett scored on a 1-yard run.

Pritchett ran an interception back for a 20-yard score in the third quarter to make it 28-13.

The Raiders answered to close the gap to 28-27 with a score in the third and another early in the final period.

However, Centerville responded as VanDevender ran for an 80-yard touchdown and Benedict finished the scoring with a 5-yard run.

Centerville (2-1) visits Tri-Eastern Conference foe Lincoln next Friday.
