PORTLAND, Ind. – The Centerville baseball team dropped a pair of contests at Jay County on Saturday.
The Patriots won the opener 13-3 in five innings and then followed with a 7-5 win.
Centerville led the first game 3-0 when the Patriots scored once in the third and then added five more in the fourth to take the lead for good.
Matt Stamper, Nolan Witte, Jack Willis and Logan Moistner had hits for the Bulldogs.
Stamper took the loss in four innings of work on the mound.
In the second contest, the Bulldogs fell behind 4-0 after two innings, but they were able to fight back to take the lead.
Justyn North and Chris Pritchett both knocked in runs to highlight the top of the third when Centerville tied the game at 4-4.
A dropped third strike in the top of the fifth allowed Centerville to go on top 5-4, when Willis scored on the play.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the Patriots rallied to score the decisive runs in the bottom of the sixth.
North led the Bulldogs with two hits.
Dalton Stevens, who went to the mound in the third for Centerville starter Devin Christian, got the loss.
The Bulldogs (3-3) are at Rushville on Tuesday.
