HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – The Centerville girls basketball team beat Northeastern 51-36 on Friday to earn a spot in the Wayne County Tournament championship game.
Lincoln (12-3) and Centerville (4-10) meet on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Centerville got off to a quick start on its way to the win.
“Over the break they came together and I think they bought into what we are trying to do,” Centerville coach Jason Searcy said. “I’m really proud of this group.”
“We’ve had some bumps along the way, but to come in here against a team that pretty much to it to us the last time we played them, I’m really proud of this group.”
The Knights defeated the Bulldogs 41-24 back in December.
“Our kids really switched well and they defended well,” Searcy said. “We were in the passing lanes and we talked about that giving you easy baskets.”
Centerville led 14-6 at the first stop and held an advantage the rest of the way.
Cassidy Weiss led the Bulldogs with 13 points, while Ella Chew tossed in 11 points. Carlie Doolin added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Olivia Harris led the Knights with 13 points. Kasey Andrews led Northeastern with 10 rebounds.
