LEWISVILLE, Ind. – A pair of five-run innings were the difference on Tuesday for the Centerville baseball team as the Bulldogs defeated Tri 10-0 in six innings.
Centerville broke open the scoreless Tri-Eastern Conference contest with five runs in the top of the fourth inning. Devin Christian highlighted the frame with a two-run single, while Peyton Hobson added another score with a single.
In the five-run sixth, Christian knocked in two more runs with a double for the big hit in that inning.
Jack Willis led the Bulldogs with three hits, while Christian and Hobson added two apiece.
Eric Bilby, Drew Mondrush and Josiah Jackson each had a hit for the Titans.
Nolan Witte (1-0) picked up the victory on the mound as he blanked the Titans for five innings. He gave up two hits and fanned seven. Matt Stamper tossed the final inning for Centerville surrendering a hit with two strike outs.
Mondrush (0-1) worked four innings for the Titans as he took the loss.
The Bulldogs (2-1, 1-0) are scheduled to entertain Eastern Hancock on Thursday.
Tri (0-1, 0-1) visits conference foe Union City on Thursday.
