CENTERVILLE, Ind. – The Centerville boys basketball team needed overtime on Friday night, but the Bulldogs were able to get the job done with a 63-58 victory over Monroe Central.
“Overall, a great team win for the Bulldogs,” Centerville Head Coach Seve Beach said. “Everybody stepped up in one way or another the entire game to help us to get the win.”
Centerville trailed at every stop until the game was tied 52-52 at the end of regulation. The Bulldogs outscored the Golden Bears 11-6 in the extra session.
“I’m beyond proud of this group for their buy-in and continuing to push forward,” Beach said. “It was really good to get a win against a solid Monroe Central team.”
Ricky Torres led the Bulldogs with 20 points, while Matt Stamper added 15 points.
“Ricky did a great job attacking and making good decisions,” Beach said. “Matt Stamper was a rebounding machine all night.”
Justin DuPree finished with 11 including a 3-pointer in overtime. Myles Cunningham had just four points, but he played an important role.
“Myles Cunningham helped secure some huge loose balls and hit big free throws,” Beach said.
Centerville (2-8) entertains Union on Saturday.
