UNION CITY, Ind. – Justiss Cantu nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer on Wednesday to give the Union City girls basketball team a 40-38 victory over Tri High.
Cantu scored a game-high 26 points with 13 coming in the final period. She also had five steals.
Maddy Cox added nine points and nine rebounds in the Tri-Eastern Conference affair.
For the Titans, Kaley Harrison and Lauren Bouslog both led the way with 11 points.
Auburn Harvey tossed in nine points.
The Titans led 18-12 after the first quarter and 28-19 by the intermission.
Tri High maintained its edge with a 31-27 advantage by the end of the third before Cantu rallied Union City as she scored all of the points for the Indians in the last quarter.
Union City also won the JV contest 38-30 as Emalee Bocanegra led the way with 11 points. Mackenzie Charles added eight points. Jodi Carpenter had six steals and Luzy Corona pulled down eight rebounds.
Both teams return to action as they host tournaments on Friday, Dec. 29.
Union City (5-8, 3-4) faces Blue River (8-3), while the Titans (9-3, 3-3) meet South Decatur (1-12).
