CENTERVILLE, Ind. – It just wasn’t a good night for the Centerville boys basketball team as the Bulldogs lost to Franklin County 55-30 on Saturday.

“We were tired from last night (against Northeastern) and all they’ve done is practice,” Centerville Head Coach Seve Beach said.

The Bulldogs fell 70-49 in a rivalry contest on Friday against Northeastern, while Franklin County had not played since its season opening 64-55 win over Lawrenceburg on Nov. 25.

None of that really mattered to Beach as he looks for his program to develop.

“We still have to take care of the things that we can take care of,” Beach said. “This is the most stagnate our offense has been.”

“We got fatuged, but you’ve got to bounce back right away,” he added about playing back-to-back games. “This has got to be a learning tool for us.”

A lesson Beach is hoping that his team learned was about effort as he complimented the play of Devin Christian.

“That was our discussion in the locker room,” Beach said. “There is no reason why we can’t all have that effort he had.”

The Bulldogs led briefly in the first quarter after Myles Cunningham scored to make it 5-4 with 4:55 left in the period.

However, the Wildcats (2-0) quickly answered and led 13-7 at the first stop before building a 28-13 advantage by halftime to take control of the contest.

Dante Torres led Centerville with 11 points, while Matt Stamper tossed in eight.

Tyler Miller led Franklin County with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Johnathan Hagerty added 12 points.

Franklin County won the JV affair 58-33. Peyton VanWinkle led Centerville with eight points and Josh Gardner tossed in six.

Centerville (0-4) remains at home for its next contest against Randolph Southern on Friday, Dec. 11.
