CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Centerville’s girls basketball team opens its season on Saturday as the Bulldogs entertain Randolph Southern.
“This team is looking to compete and improve daily,” Centerville Head Coach Jason Searcy said. “Health is a major concern at this point for this team with a few players currently recovering from major injuries and illness.”
Junior Ella Chew is the top returning scorer for the Bulldogs at 8.2 PPG, which earned her a place on the All-Tri-Eastern Conference squad.
Junior Carlie Doolin scored 6.8 PPG and averaged 5.3 rebounds per contest.
Senior Alex McFarland, who was on the All-TEC Honorable Mention list, is joined by classmates Cassidy Weiss and Savana Kates.
McFarland averaged 5.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Weiss posted 5.4 PPG, while Kates scored 6.0 PPG in six games before missing the rest of the year with an injury.
“We have a lot of young players that gained valuable experiences last season,” Searcy said. “We are looking forward to improving on our 6-16 record last season.”
Other juniors on the roster are Molly Coomes and Kailee Tedder. The sophomores are Brynna Cheek, Alexis Harmon and Kyla Ray, while Crystal Breen, Jade Hill, Emily Tedder and Ashley Walter are freshmen
Centerville’s first TEC contest is at Knightstown on Saturday, Nov. 18.
