CENTERVILLE, Ind. – The Centerville football team opened the season on Friday night as the Bulldogs dropped a 42-6 decision to IFCA Class 1A No. 13 Monroe Central.
Centerville quarterback Dylan Benedict completed 9-of-17 passes for 159 yards and one touchdown.
Benedict’s scoring pass came in the third quarter on a 30-yard strike to Myles Cunningham. He also completed an 80-yard pass to Tyler Rodandello.
Peyton VanWinkle led the Bulldogs with two catches.
Defensively, Kody Witham topped Centerville with 11 tackles, while Cole Cooper was credited with eight stops.
Clay Thompson recovered a pair of fumbles as Rodandello picked up one.
The Bulldogs (0-1) visit Tri next Friday for a Tri-Eastern Conference affair. The Titans defeated Union City 56-7.
