FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – A three-run sixth inning gave the Centerville baseball team a 4-2 win over Northeastern on Saturday in a Tri-Eastern Conference affair.
Nolan Witte knocked in a run with a sacrifice to tie the game and then the Bulldogs added an unearned run before Guy Rednour’s RBI single scored the final tally.
Northeastern grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning. After the Knights scored on an error, Kaleb Mikesell drove in a run with a single.
Blake Shook cut Centerville’s deficit in half with a run-scoring single in the third.
On the mound for the Bulldogs, Dalton Stevens went 4⅔ innings with 10 strikeouts, while Matt Stamper worked the final 2⅓ frames and didn’t allow a run to earn the victory.
Mason Fisher went the distance for the Knights striking out eight and giving up only one earned run.
Mikesell had two hits to lead the Knights.
Northeastern (9-9, 0-5) is at Eastern Hancock on Monday.
Centerville (10-8, 4-1) is back in action on Tuesday at home against Seton.
