LIBERTY, Ind. – Centerville rushed for 346 yards on Friday night as the Bulldogs defeated Union County 38-20 in Tri-Eastern Conference football action.
Chris Pritchett led the Bulldogs with 163 yards on the ground, while Reese VanDevender add 99 yards and Kody Witham added 70 yards.
VanDevender gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead in the opening period as he scored from three yards out.
Union County answered as quarterback Blake Fields and Ryan Hensley hooked up in the second period on a 40-yard score to make it 7-6.
Dante Torres booted a 31-yard field goal to put the Bulldogs on top 10-6 at halftime.
In the third quarter, VanDevender scored on a 14-yard run as the Bulldogs built a 17-6 advantage.
Centerville put the game away in the final frame as Pritchett scored on an 11-yard run and Witham added a pair or touchdowns on runs of 11 and 1-yard.
The Patriots finished the scoring with Fields throwing a 63-yard pass to Nate Webb before he added the final tally on a 2-yard run.
For Union County, Fields was 12-of-20 for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Webb grabbed five passes for 109 yards and a touchdown with Hensley finishing with three catches for 47 yards and a score.
Defensively for the Bulldogs, Witham led the way with eight tackles and Peyton Hobson picked off a pass.
Tucker Coffman led the Patriots on defense with seven tackles.
Both teams finish the regular season next Friday.
The Bulldogs (6-2, 5-1) entertain Winchester (1-7, 1-5), while the Patriots (4-4, 3-3) visit Tri High (4-4, 3-3).
