Chase Hokey Picks Wilmington

Lincoln’s Chase Hokey signs with Wilmington College next to his parents Robin (L) and Heath (R) Hokey.

CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. –
Lincoln’s Chase Hokey announced on Wednesday that he was going to continue his football career at Wilmington College in Ohio.

“I chose Wilmington, because of their campus, football program, and agriculture program,” Hokey said. “They have a very nice campus with a great agricultural program and I believe that their football team has a bright future.”

Lincoln Head Coach Phil Renforth was pleased with the choice by the All-Tri-Eastern Conference performer.

“I believe that Chase has the ability to play at the DIII level and has a chance to contribute early on,” the Golden Eagle mentor said. “He can definitely play linebacker, but he also runs well and could help out on special teams coverages as well.”

“I feel like the school can be a good fit for him athletically as well as academically,” Renforth added. “Chase has been an outstanding young man and representative of Lincoln Football. He has worked very hard at becoming a better football player.”

The Quakers are a NCAA Div. III school playing in the Ohio Athletic Conference under Head Coach Bryan Moore.

“I’m very excited to join the team and can’t wait to get out there and see what college football is all about,” said Hokey, who is the son of Heath and Robin Hokey.

Recently honored by the Indiana Football Coaches Association, Hockey was named to the Academic All-State and Region 8 All-Star teams.

“Chase has been the glue for our defense since his freshman year,” Renforth said. “Other than the games he missed with the broken thumb, he has been our defensive leader. He is the best linebacker I’ve ever coached in my 32 years.”

Last season, Hokey led the Golden Eagles with 144 tackles and three sacks.

“Chase got better each year that he played,” Renforth said. “He started out as a leader by example and became a more vocal leader as well. He has meant so much to the program during his four years.”
