Gary Patterson begins in his 15th season as TCU’s Head Coach.

The FBS college football season opens with 19 contests on the schedule on Thursday, Sept. 3.

TCU, ranked second in the AP’s pre-season poll, is the only top 10 squad in action as the Horned Frogs visit Minnesota.

“It’s a big game for both sides,” TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson said in his weekly teleconference. “I look at Minnesota like we were a year ago. A really good football team, but probably didn’t get as much credit as what they deserved. At the end of the year, they probably played (national champion) Ohio State as well as anybody did.”

The Horned Frogs (12-1) beat Minnesota 30-7 last season. The Golden Gophers (8-5) dropped a 31-24 affair to Ohio State.

There are two other match-ups that feature teams ranked in the top 25. No. 16 Georgia Tech entertains Alcorn State, while Texas-San Antonio makes a trip to No. 22 Arizona.

Perhaps the most intriguing contest of the night will be when Michigan travels Utah for the debut of Wolverines Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.

The other games on tap are North Carolina at South Carolina, Florida International at Central Florida, Virginia Military at Ball State, Oklahoma State at Central Michigan, Stony Brook at Toledo, Elon at Wake Forest, Villanova at Connecticut, Western Kentucky at Vanderbilt, Southern Utah at Utah State, Ohio at Idaho, Duke at Tulane, UC-Davis at Nevada, Abilene Christian at Fresno State, New Hampshire at San Jose State and Colorado at Hawaii.
