CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln’s Ryanne Davis announced her intentions to join the track program at Indiana University East on Friday.
“Their track program is really growing,” Davis said.
The Red Wolves compete in the River States Conference under Head Coach Gus Schmader, who just completed his first season at the NAIA school in Richmond.
“I thought it would be a great opportunity and it’s closer to home,” said Davis, who is the daughter of Angela and Rodney Davis.
On Thursday during the Tri-Eastern Conference Meet in Union City, Davis finished second in the high jump and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
“We’ve worked really hard,” said Davis, who plans on studying psychology. “Our main goal has been high jump and I’ve got a personal best of 5-0 this year.”
The high jump will likely be her focus with the Red Wolves.
“Mainly the high jump because I feel like that is my strongest event,” she said. But I will be willing to do anything he needs me to do.”
Davis and her Golden Eagle teammates will be competing in the sectional on Tuesday at Connersville.
