WINCHESTER, Ind. – A big third quarter gave the Winchester girls basketball team a boost on Monday as the Falcons posted a 57-41 win over Northeastern.
Sarah Mallory led the Falcons with 19 points with 15 coming in the critical third frame of the Tri-Eastern Conference affair. Mairah Roberts tossed in 12 points.
Madi Clay led the Knights with 12 points and Chaise Helton added nine points and six steals.
The contest was tight early and the Falcons led 14-9 and 29-21 at the first two stops. Led by Mallory’s effort in the third period, Winchester scored 22 points and surrendered just six points as the Falcons built a 51-27 advantage to take controlf of the contest.
The Falcons won the JV affair 56-18. Victoria Pegg had 18 points for the Falcons, while Kira Robinson grabbed 22 rebounds.
Winchester (4-4, 1-2) is at Delta on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Northeastern (1-7, 0-2) plays at Centerville as part of a boys and girls twinbill on Friday, Dec. 4.
