MUNCIE, Ind. – The Winchester boys basketball team ended up on the wrong side in another close game on Tuesday as the Falcons fell 44-36 at Delta.
Kiante Enis led Winchester with 16 points, while Austin Lawrence added 10 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.
Winchester led at the first stop 8-7 and then 16-13 at the half. Delta had a big run in the third period to go on top 32-22.
The Falcons cranked up the pressure in the second half with good results.
“We forced the tempo on them as much as we could,” Winchester Head Coach Matt Fine said during his post-game radio interview. “Our guys we’re flying around and did a great job with that.”
Enis gave the Falcons a 34-32 advantage with a dunk at the 2:50 mark of the final stanza, but Delta (4-2) answered with four straight points to go back on top 36-34.
With 1:20 remaining, Enis tied it at 36-36 with what proved to be Winchester’s last score. From that moment, the Eagles finished with eight straight points to earn the victory.
Winchester (2-3) travels to Jay County next Tuesday, Dec. 29.
