WINCHESTER, Ind. – The Winchester boys basketball team had three players in double figures on Saturday as the Falcons beat Tri-Village 64-49.
“The kids played with focus, determination and that never quit attitude that you need to compete at a high level,” Winchester Head Coach Matt Fine said. “We competed tonight and that’s what we’ve been stressing lately.”
“I can’t say enough about our effort and the toughness and focus we played with tonight,” Fine continued. “We attacked and were the more aggressive team. That’s why we were successful. We competed every possession.”
Winchester led 37-28 at halftime and the Falcons were able to add to their advantage in the second half to put the game away.
Austin Lawrence topped the Falcons with 22 points against the Patriots (14-2). who are from New Madison, Ohio.
Kiante Enis added 17 points, while Arick Miller finished with 14 points, four steals and three blocked shots.
Elias Gates led Winchester with nine rebounds.
Winchester (10-3) won the JV game as the Falcons blanked the Patriots in the final period to post the 49-39 victory.
The game was tied 39-39 after three quarters and Winchester scored all 10 points in the last stanza against the Patriots (12-3).
Aaron Wallace and Boo Enis led Winchester with 13 points each. Jordan Key added nine points.
The Falcons (8-5) entertain Yorktown on Tuesday at the Winchester Fieldhouse.
