HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – Hagerstown Head Coach Scott Snodgrass welcomes back 10 seniors as he enters his seventh season with the Tigers.
The Tigers are looking to improve on their 7-5 mark from a year ago.
“We expect to get better and better each day through playoff time,” Snodgrass said.
Owen Golliher, Mason Hicks, Blake Blevins, Jalen Oliver, Cameron Purtha, Jake Combs and Ryan Golliher are expected to lead the Tigers.
Owen Golliher is the most prolific player for the Tigers as he threw for 1,737 yards and 18 touchdowns last season, while also gaining 1,112 yards on the ground with 24 scores.
Next in line is Hicks, who led the Tigers in rushing with 1,346 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also added 31 catches for 388 yards to go with a pair of kickoff returns for scores.
Oliver finished with 29 receptions for 503 yards and four touchdowns.
On defense, Ryan Golliher was at the top of the tackle list last fall with 122 stops.
Combs was second with 98 tackles to go with two interceptions.
Cam Purtha contributed 75 tackles a year ago with Blevins adding four sacks.
Snodgrass is pleased with his team’s progress during the pre-season.
“We will have several sophomore and juniors sharing varsity time this year as we develop,” he said. “We have a solid group of freshmen to add to the mix. It should be a lot of fun getting everyone up to speed and going in the right direction. It certainly has been fun thus far.”
Hagerstown opens the season at Shenandoah on Friday before beginning its Tri-Eastern Conference slate at Winchester on Friday, Sept. 1.
“I think the conference has improved as a whole over the last few years,” Snodgrass said. “Each week requires you to be at your best and I think that helps in preparation for the state tournament.”
