Football Preview: Tri High

Tri High Head Coach Andrew Totheroh is in his second season with the Titans.

LEWISVILLE, Ind. –
Tri High Head Coach Andrew Totheroh has 10 seniors on his roster as he prepares to begin his second season with the Titans.

“My expectations are that we continue to improve and grow each day,” Totheroh said. “We’ve got a talented group of young men here, so it’s my job as the coach to keep coaching them to maximize their full potential.”

Some of the top returning players are Drew Mondrush, Alex Melton, Nick Wilson, Logan Stephens, Kyler Burchett, Ethan Fleenor, Dakota Raley, Seth Butler, Ryan Hunter, Austin Fowler, Justin Greene, Gage Rowe, Masen Phelps, and Robby Pandoli.

“It is a veteran group, which I do have high expectations for,” Totheroh said.

Mondrush threw for 425 yards a year ago with six touchdowns.

Wilson is the top rusher back with 697 yards to his credit last fall with five touchdowns.

Phelps had eight receptions with three scores.

Melton is a versatile player that had 44 rushing yards and a touchdown, 165 passing yards with a pair of scores and 41 tackles on the other side of the ball.

Joining Melton on the defense is Wilson and his 65 stops a year ago along with Justin Greene, who had 65 tackles.

There are several newcomers for people to watch.

“They are talented kids with a major upside along with plenty of room for growth during the season,” Totheroh said. “Our freshman class is very talented, they remind me of the current senior group. I have high expectations for them as they continue to grow and develop as well.”

The Titans begin the season with a visit from Tri-Eastern Conference foe Union City.

“The TEC is a tough football conference with each team bringing their own style of play to the table, which I like a lot because it prepares you and your team for the tournament,” Totheroh said. “The TEC will be what it was last season, tough and you’ve got to bring your A game to the table and compete each week.”

“We’ve got a good group of young men returning that are hungry to improve off of last season,” Totheroh added. “They will determine how the season unfolds, it’s our job as coaches to prepare them to be successful.”
