LIBERTY, Ind. – The Union County girls basketball team won its second straight on Saturday as the Patriots beat Knightstown 44-30.
It was the ninth victory in the last 11 games for the Patriots (12-7).
“Defensively, I thought we were solid,” Union County Head Coach Scott Gray said. “We held their leading scorer to four points.”
Brooke Vise had just four free throws for the Panthers (3-16).
“Sammie Elleman did a good job of guarding her 1-on-1,” Gray said.
The Patriots opened the afternoon with a 12-6 lead after one period.
“We moved the ball well,” Gray said. “We just didn’t hit a lot of shots.”
Union County was 3-for-19 from behind the 3-point line.
Maddie Fulton led the Patriots with 20 points. Elleman added eight points.
Union County returns to action Thursday with a Tri-Eastern Conference match-up at Northeastern.
