CENTERVILLE, Ind. – The Centerville girls tennis team is searching for another Tri-Eastern Conference title as the the Bulldogs begin the 2016 season at home against Franklin County on Tuesday, April 5.
“We’re always going to try to compete for the TEC,” Centerville Head Coach Randy Ecker, who has been in charge of the girls program for the last four years.
“It’s going to be a real battle as Hagerstown has a real good team returning,” he added.
The Bulldogs posted an overall mark of 12-3 last spring as they went 7-0 in the conference.
Despite finishing second in the TEC Tournament to Hagerstown, the Bulldogs captured their sixth straight title by virtue of the regular season championship. Overall, Centerville has won 18 TEC titles.
During Ecker’s four-year tenure as girls coach, Centerville is 50-10 with four TEC titles in a row.
“My kids worked hard during the summertime and they are working hard now,” Ecker continued. “They are doing the things I am asking them to do and hopefully, in the long run it will pay off.”
Abby Stewart, Chloe Uphaus and Shelby Good will likely form the singles lineup.
Competing for the four doubles spots are Addie Walther, Kelly Wolf, Robyn Raatz, Miranda Sams and Morgan Guenther.
The Bulldogs travel to Hagerstown for their first TEC contest on Thursday, April 21.
