CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln Head Girls Tennis Coach Elizabeth Wonsetler has a roster of 10 players with three returning from last year’s varsity.
Two of the returnees are juniors Kylei Klein and Lydia Bertsch who played together at No. 2 doubles last year. The duo finished in second during the Tri-Eastern Conference Tournament.
Also back is sophomore Jamie Buhl who was part of the No. 1 doubles squad.
Leslie Richardson and Ali Reese and they are expected to contribute after playing at the junior varsity level last season.
“The warm weather has allowed us quality time on the courts and all are improving daily,” Wonsetler said. “We are also delighted with five very athletic freshmen players.”
The freshmen are Rachel Merida, Makala Hammons, Cami Laymon, Haley VanWinkle, and Kenzi Fessler.
Wonsetler thinks the Golden Eagles can challenge for the TEC title.
“Hagerstown, Centerville, Winchester as well as Lincoln have a strong core of returning players,” she said. “The conference looks very competitive and should lead to exciting matches.”
Lincoln is scheduled to open the season at Eastern Hancock on Thursday, April 7.
The Golden Eagles entertain Northeastern in their first TEC contest pf the season on Monday, April 11.
