WINCHESTER, Ind. – Winchester Head Girls Tennis Coach Dennis Streeter welcomes back seven varsity players from last season as the team prepares for 2016.
“With these veterans and several underclassmen challenging for varsity spots, we feel strongly that we’ll be competitive in both season and (Tri-Eastern) Conference play,” Streeter said.
“Also, we have several returning junior varsity players to choose from and, what appears to be, a very strong freshman class,” Streeter added.
Junior Grace Retter, senior Emily White and senior Miranda Winningham are the top three returnees in singles. The doubles players back are junior Leah Wren, senior Leah Malkey, senior Shelby Moreland, and junior Megan Brown.
The juniors on the roster are Autumn Dixon, Kaitlin Goodman, Destiny Shaw, Alyssa Sheridan, Makayla Sparks, Brittany Thornbury and Cassie Whyde.
Brianna Bogue, Maci Franz, Olivia Hershberger, Lea Mannel and Lindsey Schroeder are all sophomores, while the freshman on the team are Riley Helms, Emily McCoy, Mariah Roberts and Danielle Ruhl.
The Falcons start the season at South Adams on Wednesday, April 6.
