CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Lincoln’s girls basketball team built a big lead on Thursday and then the Golden Eagles were able to maintain their distance as they defeated Wapahani 54-47.

“An outstanding team effort,” Lincoln Head Coach Rob Bills said. “Our kids just played with effort and executed really well.”

“We were able to get out to an 18-point lead early in the third and were able to hold off their runs in the second half,” Bills continued. “Wapahani is a good team and it’s a quality win for us.”

Lincoln led 20-11 at the first stop and then 34-18 at the intermission. The Golden Eagles were on top 44-33 after three quarters before hanging on for the victory.

Kylei Klein led the Golden Eagles with 17 points, while Kerrigan Neff added 16 points.

Emmie Pugh finished with eight points and Allie Owens tossed in six.

The Golden Eagles (6-1) visit Union on Tuesday for a varsity only game at 6:30 p.m.
