DUBLIN, Ind. – The Lincoln softball team took control of the Tri-Eastern Conference standings on Friday night as the Golden Eagles scored in the bottom of the eighth inning to post a 1-0 victory over top-ranked Tri High.
Laynie Russell tripled with two outs and later scored the game’s only run on an error to give the Golden Eagles the win.
Lincoln is now 13-1 overall and 7-0 in the TEC and on top in the league, while the Titans are 14-2, 4-1.
Hannah Hall worked the first 6⅓ innings on the mound for the Golden Eagles with two strikeouts.
Kaleigh Lamb earned the victory by not allowing a run over the final 1⅔ innings.
For the Titans, Payton Moore went the distance giving up the unearned run on three hits with 12 strikeouts in 7⅔ innings.
Kassidy Stewart led the Titans with two hits.
Having clinched at least a tie for the TEC championship, Lincoln returns to action on Tuesday at Union County with a chance to win the outright title.
