FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Lincoln was able to hang on for an 8-7 win over Northeastern on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles led 8-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth of the Tri-Eastern Conference contest.
Northeastern rallied for two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
A hard hit ball off the bat of Northeastern’s Jesseca Burns landed foul by a few inches with the winning run on base in the final frame.
Kaleigh Lamb led the Golden Eagles with three hits, while Jaela Patton and Alyssa Messer had two each.
Patton had three RBI and Emmie Pugh also knocked in a pair of runs.
Hannah Hall earned the victory on the mound for Lincoln.
Lena Smith knocked in four runs on two hits for the Knights, while Chaise Helton and Leah Hoskins scored twice as each had two hits. Kyrian Smith drove in a run with a double.
Lincoln entertains Centerville on Friday, while the Knights return to action Monday at Cowan.
