HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – Firing on all cylinders, the Hagerstown boys basketball team picked up a decisive 67-47 victory over Monroe Central on Saturday night.
“Tonight was a total team effort,” Hagerstown Head Coach Bobby Jones said. “This was the best game we’ve had offensively so far this season.
The Tigers had four players in double figures led by Mason Stitt with 19 points.
“Mason Stitt and Jared Andis shot the ball very well.” Jones said.
Stitt hit five 3-pointers, while Andis made three as he finished with 15 points. Templin had 16 points and Isaiah Neal added 10.
“Bret Templin was very steady at the point and did a great job of getting to the free throw line late in the game,” Jones said.
Templin had seven points at halftime and in the final period, he converted 9-of-10 free throws.
Hagerstown led 18-13 after one period and the Tigers increased the advantage to 35-22 by the intermission.
The Golden Bears (2-5) closed the gap to 44-34 at the third stop before the Tigers put the game away in the final quarter.
The Tigers (6-1) are back in action at the Johnson Memorial Hospital/Sports Plus Inc. Holiday Classic in Edinburgh on Monday, Dec. 28. Hagerstown is scheduled to play Jac-Cen-Del in the first round of the eight-team tournament.
