FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – A strong second half propelled the Hagerstown girls basketball team to a 65-33 win over Northeastern on Tuesday night in Larry Moore Gymnasium.
“We had a great total team effort,” Hagerstown Head Coach Chris Oliger said.
Oliger was particularly pleased with his team’s defense in the second half.
“We did a great job,” he said.
With the Tri-Eastern Conference win, the Tigers (14-7, 5-1) are still alive for part of the title. Hagerstown needs a win over TEC leader Union City (16-3, 6-0) to tie the Indians for the top spot. The Tigers entertain Union City on Friday, Jan. 29.
Union County (12-7, 3-1) is also still in the hunt as the Patriots have games against Northeastern, Lincoln and Centerville left on their plate.
The Tigers held a 27-20 advantage at the intermission before adding 10 points to the lead after three periods. They held the Knights to four points in the final stanza.
Savannah Houck led the Tigers with 18 points, while Hannah Rogers and Taylor Kelley finished with 11 points each.
Madi Clay topped the Knights with 13 points. Kasey Andrews added seven points.
