HAGERSTOWN, Ind. – The Hagerstown football team is headed to the Class A Sectional 46 finale after a 55-10 win over Knightstown on Friday night.
The Tigers (7-4) will entertain No. 12 Indianapolis Lutheran (8-3) in next Friday’s sectional championship affair.
The Saints defeated Tri 63-8 on Friday night to advance. Lutheran won the title a year ago, while the Tigers haven’t been this far in the tournament since 2010 when they also won the sectional.
Owen Golliher was a force on both sides of the ball for the Tigers against the Panthers (3-8).
The Hagerstown quarterback completed 9-of-21 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, but it was the 211 yards rushing on 16 carries that made the difference as he found the end zone five times. Defensively, he finished with 10 tackles.
Mason Hicks added 103 yards on the ground on 13 rushes.
After Grant Vinson grabbed a 21-yard pass from Frankie Bush in the opening period, Bush added a safety to put the Tigers in from 9-3.
Golliher finished the frame with a pair of rushing touchdowns and the Tigers held a 21-3 advantage.
In the second period, Golliher scored twice on the ground as the Tigers led 35-3 at the intermission.
Knightstown scored early in the third period, but Golliher ran for his fifth touchdown to make it 42-10.
Brandon Purtha caught a 6-yard pass from Golliher in the fourth frame. Hicks capped the night for the Tigers with a TD run.
David Castle, Jake Combs and Ryan Golliher each had 10 tackles for the Tigers. Combs also had an interception.
