Although there are a lot of quarterbacks on this week’s highlight list, the running game was also important during several of the performances from around the nation.
Trevone Boykin led TCU (6-0, 3-0) to a come-from-behind 52-45 victory over Kansas State (3-2, 0-2). The second-ranked Horned Frogs trailed 35-17 at halftime.
Boykin threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Josh Doctson for the winning score with 1:10 remaining. He completed 20-of-30 passes for 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
On the ground, Boykin led the Horned Frogs with 124 yards on 11 carries for two more scores.
Iowa running back Jordan Canteri gained 256 yards as he led the No. 22 Hawkeyes (6-0, 2-0) to a 29-20 win over Big 10 rival Illinois (4-2, 1-1).
Canteri had 43 carries and a 75-yard touchdown run. He also caught a 17-yard scoring pass from C.J. Beathard.
Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs created quite a stir in the Southeastern Conference as the Volunteers (3-3, 1-2) pulled of a 38-31 upset No. 19 Georgia (4-2, 2-2).
Dobbs ran for the winning score on a 5-yard run with 5:48 left in the contest. He rushed for 118 yards in 18 attempts with two touchdowns.
Dobbs threw for 312 yards as he completed 25-of-42 passes with three touchdowns.
Washington State quarterback Luke Falk used his arms and legs as the Cougars won 45-38 over Oregon (3-3, 1-2) in double overtime.
Falk tossed a 4-yard pass for the game-winning score for the Cougars (3-2, 1-1) to Roger Lewis, after running for a touchdown in the first extra session.
For the game, Falk connected on 50-of-74 passes for 505 yards and five touchdowns.
Matt Johnson was 33-of-39 for Bowling Green (4-2, 2-0) as the Falcons won 62-38 over Massachusetts (1-4, 0-1).
Johnson threw for 450 yards and five touchdowns.
