Indians Advance to Title Contest

The Union City boys basketball team reached the championship game of the Randolph County Tournament with a 81-27 victory over Union on Thursday.

The Indians (4-7) will face Monroe Central (5-5) on Saturday for the title at 8 p.m.

The Golden Bears defeated Randolph Southern 46-44 in Thursday’s opener to make it to the finale.

Trevor Spence and Zerrin Cantu both had 15 points to lead the Indians. Cantu added five steals, while Spence finished with three takeaways.

Akili Roberts and Mason Good contributed nine points each. Roberts grabbed seven rebounds and Good had five steals.

Bryten Stewart tossed in eight points and had four rebounds.

Trevor Thompson had seven points, three steals and two blocks.

Jacob Fulk had eight rebounds.
