UNION CITY, Ind. – A late rally helped the Union City baseball team pick up a 7-5 win over Tri High on Thursday.
The Indians trailed 5-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth and they rallied to tie the Tri-Eastern Conference contest. One frame later, Union City added to more runs to take the victory.
“I’m proud of the way our defense looked tonight,” Union City Head Coach Bill Bradbury said in a press release. “Our guys didn’t commit any errors tonight. That keeps you in the game and gives you an opportunity to strike late.”
The Indians offense was led by senior shortstop Zach Bradbury. Bradbury had three hits with five stolen bases.
Gabe Loesch, Trevor Spence, Jacob Fulk, Cam Luster and Jacob Curry each had hits. Loesch and Fulk knocked in two runs apiece, while Spence had three stolen bases.
Nic Wells picked up the win on the mound for the Indians working the fifth and sixth before Spence tossed the seventh to earn a save.
For the Titans, Josiah Jackson led the way with four hits.
Mason Rottinghaus added a pair of hits a knocked in two runs.
Jimmy Jeffries had a hit with two RBI, while Kyle Falck had a hit and RBI.
On Friday, the Indians travel to Winchester, while the Titans entertain Lincoln.
