UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City boys basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday as the Indians beat Cowan 58-48.
“Offensively, we did alright,” Union City Head Coach Dustin Baldwin said. “Defensively, we gave up some threes in the first half, but we got that fixed.”
The Indians led 20-16 after one period, but the Blackhawks responded to tie the contest at 27-27 by halftime.
Union City was able to build a 40-33 advantage by the end of the third quarter and the Indians were able to hold off Cowan (3-5) the rest of the way.
Bailey Hughes led the Indians with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Tyler Thornhill added 13 points.
Isaac Jefferis tossed in the 11 points and Spence finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
Isaac Davison had nine points as he handed out eight assists.
Union City (5-3) is back in action on Wednesday as the Indians face Union in their opener of Randolph County Tournament at Monroe Central on Jan. 6.
