UNION CITY, Ind. – Ellie Kerns led the Union City girls basketball team to a 58-33 victory over Southern Wells on Saturday.
Kerns tossed in a career-high 20 points, while teammates Justiss Cantu and Mackenzie Green finished with 13 points apiece.
Cantu added a pair of assists and four steals. Green grabbed five rebounds.
Maddy Cox led the Indians with 11 rebounds. Sophia Spence had seven rebounds and three steals.
Kahlee Dowler also had seven rebounds to go with seven points.
The Indians led 18-12 after one and 30-19 by the intermission. The advantage grew to 42-28 at the end of the third quarter.
Union City won the JV game 29-25. Hope Stump had five points and six rebounds, while Jodi Carpenter had five points.
Emalee Bocanegra added four points and four steals. Reagan Hoggatt pulled down 10 rebounds and had three assists. Luzy Corona had four points and seven rebounds.
The Indians (1-0) travel to Seton on Friday for a varsity only contest.
